June 12th, 2023

It’s just another manic Monday. We had a weekend with a summer Saturday full of sunshine and warm temperatures. Sunday rolls around and it’s sweater weather and crockpot time.

I didn’t mind both extremes… Saturday was a great day to get out and about. Sunday was a perfect day to get an arse whooping in Monopoly by a fifth grader.
Today’s quote shows how failure and danger are all around us. It’s also an example of how we must trust a stranger.
….Think about it.
Every car that heads towards us is driven by someone who we are trusting our lives with. We don’t know who that driver is and we are putting all of our faith into them. Trusting that they can stay on their side of the road.
For every mile of road there is the possibility of oncoming traffic. Traffic that symbolizes trust. Chance encounters that could possibly end with a head on collision. Most of the time they pass us heading home to their own troubles. Trusting that we also stay on our side of the road.
The twists and turns, the encounters, the potholes, the obstacles all along the road of life are sandwiched between a couple ditches. We seldom think of the headlights coming towards us.
We put our lives in the hands of a complete stranger with every passing vehicle. Life is full of jagoffs driving with their high beams on. Life sometimes has the occasional drunk heading straight towards you.
I started today’s Morning Chalkboard with an earworm. I’ll end it with one… keep your eyes on the road, your hands upon the wheel. The future is uncertain and the end is always near.
The Bangles and the Doors… a hottie that sang about Egyptian erections and a dude that died in a bathtub… enjoy your Monday road trip.
