So many of you sent me a picture of the moon. I saw the moon from Lake Michigan and the Ohio River. From Brooklyn, Indianapolis, Nashville and New Orleans. I even went international with shots from England, New Zealand and Italy.
This week we all found joy in the beauty of the full moon. Watching the brightness of our satellite floating across the late August sky brought us all together.
As far away as we are from each other we were actually standing side by side in awe. The distance between us vanished as we shared space.
The journey of life puts many miles between us. I think about the last time I saw some of you. It could have been last week or March of 1983. Receiving a picture of the moon from your life erased all time and distance. The moon brought us back together.
For the rest of our lives we can look at the moon at the same time and have each other’s presence.
You took me to your backyard yesterday. I was in your neighborhood last night and you were with me on my balcony. We stood together with the roar of the lions in the distance. Even Brutus and Titus from the Brookfield Zoo stood in awe of the moon.
Until we see each other again, we have the moon. Instead of a text or a call… just look at the moon and you’ll hear me say, “I love you.”
