April 3rd, 2024

Last night was a fine example of how this time of the year is happening when it comes to sports.

I sat in my chair and watched the Sox win their first game of the season. I watched the Blackhawks get beat by the Islanders and I witnessed a little history being played out in Indianapolis.
The Indiana State Sycamores, home of Larry Bird played basketball in the Mecca. Hinkle Fieldhouse located on the Butler University campus is where the championship game in “Hoosiers” was played. It’s a magical arena and a perfect place for a sport so dear to the Hoosier State.
I watched “The Trees” score one hundred points and win their Thirty third game of the year. They have a lead scorer who is an awkward looking kid. Last time they had one of those was forty five years ago when they had “The Hick from French Lick.”
Indiana State plays a talented Seton Hall team on Thursday in the championship game.
In a perfect world for anyone that lives close to the banks of the Wabash River….. The Sycamores win the NIT and the Boilermakers win the NCAA next week.
It really is a great time of the year when baseball starts with hockey and basketball playing at the climax of their seasons.
Today is going to be cold and damp. We might even have some snow in Chicagoland. Perfect day for a Sox game this afternoon on the Southside and a Cubbies game tonight up at Wrigley.
I better not forget to mention the Cubs kicked the shit out of someone last night. So Tuesday was a good baseball day for Chicago.
Get up and go hump and go Sycamores!
