The birds are actively singing before the sun tries to rise behind a blanket of clouds. The coo of a mourning dove stands out over the other chirps. It’s peaceful watching the start of Sunday morning.
There is one thing that is muddling through my head that keeps breaking my solemn time here alone with nature.
Sitting on my dining room table is a ticket from the City of Chicago. A red light ticket from that Saturday when I took the Shepkids into the city.
I remember the incident… traffic was heavy and the flow sporadic. It was tight, if I would have stopped I would have overlapped the crosswalk. So I zipped through the remnants of a yellow just enough to pay Lori Lightfoot a hondo before she leaves.
It wasn’t a Progressive piece of shit Lib lab democrat that ran that red light on Roosevelt road on a beautiful Saturday in April.
…..It was me.
Just a divorced dad taking his kids for a ride into a city that is no longer safe to be in. It was later that night when the honor roll students showed what they are capable of doing this summer.
I’ll take responsibility and pay my fine to Brandon Johnson and his new wave of dipshits. I will also not attend Bluesfest. I won’t take the Shepkids to 31st beach. I won’t go to the BillyGoat, Miller’s Pub or any other Chicago joints I like to frequent.
I’m bitter right now and I’ll be bitter long after that ticket gets paid.
Brandon Johnson?!?!?!
It’s going to be like a SNL skit and not one when SNL was good. One with today’s SNL that has horrible jokes and cue cards clumsily being read.
Remember when the Bears drafted that shitty left handed quarterback, Cade McNown out of UCLA?
Bear fans called him Cade McClown …. The city of Chicago just elected their very own Cade McClown!
You know I rarely get political on the Morning Chalkboard, but the Mike Royko in me is pissed off.
Could you imagine the heyday Royko would be having with the current government running Chicago? He constantly berated the Chicago Democratic Machine and it’s patronage system. He would be going bonkers with this progressive pos party now destroying the city by the lake.
All right, all right…. Stop the bitching and moaning. Next to that traffic ticket is a coffee cake the Hurley’s gave me after we watched the Derby.
There is always a bright side….
I do feel so much better after venting about my red light ticket.
Go enjoy a weather confused Sunday. Jeez we are already weeks away from Summer, the end of the school year and a little car race in Indiana.
Make sure to give a little love to someone….
….in any shape or form,
Or in a coffee cake!
