December 1st, 2024

I watched most if not all the Illinois high school state championship games this weekend.

It was some of the best football that I’ve watched this autumn. Different types of offensive formations run with perfection. Defensive units that wrapped up their tackles and drove into the ground.
The talent in each level was impressive from Class 1A to Class 8A. The team that won the Class 1A ballgame had a running back recruited by Oregon. He had over five hundred yards.
Out of the eight games, seven of them had a Catholic or a Christian school playing. Each one of them won their game. One of the games pitted two Catholic schools against each other. They gave out Holy Communion at halftime of that game.
Thanksgiving weekend is the pinnacle of the football season in both high school and college.
…and I love it!
I hope your team was victorious over the weekend.
Today is going to be cold and sunny. The perfect prescription for walking your long shadow along a walking path.
The great news is that the Bears lost on Thanksgiving Day, so we don’t have to waste a Sunday watching them get beat.
Back to the Catlicks and Christians, today is the first day of Advent. Time to prepare for that little Jewish baby that changed the last 2000 years.
December is here and it brought its normal weather along for the holidays. The 4:15 to 4:30 sunsets are here until the first of the year.
But don’t worry, Summer will be here in 176 days.
Be astonished and enjoy the taste of December snowflakes on your tongue and nose.
