Yesterday I had an annual IEP meeting with the teachers and staff that support George.
The smartest thing George’s mom did was get him an IEP when we realized we had a special needs kid.
It gives us a platform to be his biggest advocate and get George the tools he needs to grow.
It has been a bumpy road, but a success…. So far.
AND THE REASON?!?!
His teachers!
They have given him a unique support system that has helped him become a better student. They have dealt with anxiety and non stop chatter.
Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day.
And boy I sure as hell appreciate their hard work and compassion.
I started out with nuns when I was a kid. I might have sloppy left handed hand writing, but if it wasn’t for Sister Francis Irene, Sister Catherine and Sister Mary Prudence I wouldn’t have a strong foundation.
I also have a passion for writing and reading that was stoked by a young teacher at Dear Old Cathedral, John Young.
Who was your favorite teacher?
Today the Sox play the Cubs… to quote Father Kelly, “Play well tonight Gentlemen.”
It’s going to be cold and rainy in Chicagoland on Tuesday… so enjoy your March 3rd today!
